Tarifon is call accounting software for FreePBX, 3CX, Yeastar and Grandstream PBX systems. It runs locally on Windows, perpetual licence from €249.

Why Tarifon

Six reasons companies keep Tarifon once the trial is over. Monitoring your phone traffic shows where the phone bill goes and where you can save.

Accurate rating

Your operator's price lists, VAT, invoice-style rounding, free minutes and monthly fees. Calls are rated by the trunk they left through – GSM gateway, VoIP or landline.

Reports and insights

Billing per extension, department and trunk. Scheduled monthly e-mail reports, Excel export, printable statements, cost charts, per-extension limits and a comparison with another carrier's price list.

Find any call, even one from six months ago

A client called last week and nobody wrote the number down? Search by extension, date or part of the number and you have the call in seconds – including who took it and how long it lasted. No more guessing who was supposed to call back.

Your data stays with you

Tarifon runs on an ordinary PC in your office, not in the cloud. Phone numbers never leave your network – easy GDPR compliance including retention and deletion of records, three privacy levels per extension and number masking.

Deployed in under 10 minutes

One installer, a setup wizard and browser access for the whole company with no per-user surcharge. Interface in 6 languages.

30 days to try it, no strings attached

The trial is the full version – no crippled features, no card up front. When the trial ends the program keeps collecting calls, so once you buy a licence you also see the period while you were deciding. You lose no history.

Protection against PBX toll fraud

If someone gets into your PBX, they can run up thousands of euros over a single weekend. Tarifon notices within minutes – not from the invoice a month later.

An attacker finds an extension with a weak password or a poorly secured SIP account and starts calling premium-rate and satellite numbers through your PBX, taking a share of the revenue. It happens at night and over holidays, so that it goes unnoticed for as long as possible. This is the most common way a company suddenly loses money on its phones – and your operator will bill those calls, because they left your PBX.

Tarifon watches your calls continuously and alerts you as soon as any of six rules triggers:

The e-mail arrives within minutes and carries the extension, the numbers called, the amount and a link straight to those calls. If nobody reacts, the program reminds you after half an hour and then every two hours – not every minute, because alerts that pester get filtered out and the feature is dead.

If the call is legitimate – you call such numbers routinely – you click “This is fine” and the program remembers the exception. Protection works from the very first start, there is nothing to switch on or configure, and it is part of the program at no extra cost.

What Tarifon does not do: it will not stop a call in progress, it is not a gateway between you and your operator. On Yeastar P-Series and 3CX V20, however, it blocks the suspicious extension automatically right in the PBX – no further calls leave it until you unblock it. The difference between learning about the abuse within minutes and learning about it from the invoice usually runs into thousands of euros.

What it looks like

The interface runs in a browser, so the accounting team can use it too – with nothing installed on their computers.

  • Calls filtered by period, extension, trunk and direction.
  • Billing per extension and department with cost and talk time.
  • Monthly statement for print or PDF, export to Excel.
  • Cost charts and per-extension limits with alerts when exceeded.
  • Private-call marking and a separate statement for payroll deductions.

FAQ

Answers to what you ask us most often – and to what people look up before buying.

How do I find out how much each extension spent on calls?

In the Billing view you pick a period and Tarifon shows every extension with its call count, talk time and cost. The list sorts by cost, so the most expensive extensions come first. The same report arrives once a month by e-mail with an Excel attachment.

How do I split call costs between departments?

You assign a department to each extension, either one by one or in bulk from a CSV. Tarifon then totals costs per department the same way as per extension, and the monthly statement has one line per cost centre. An extension belongs to a single department, so nothing is counted twice.

Does it work with FreePBX, 3CX, Yeastar or Grandstream?

Yes, with all four – and not only those. FreePBX and Asterisk are read straight from the CDR database, 3CX over XAPI or the CDR socket, Yeastar P-Series over its API and Grandstream UCM over the CDR interface. Unify OpenScape Business (also Telekom Octopus F X) sends its Call Charges records over the network straight into Tarifon. Over SMDR output we can also connect Alcatel-Lucent OXO Connect, Panasonic KX-NS and Avaya IP Office systems.

How do I do call accounting on 3CX without the AI Edition (formerly Enterprise)?

Through the CDR socket. XAPI is only in the AI Edition (8SC+ licence, formerly Enterprise), but the CDR socket is in every edition, including Hosted by 3CX instances. Tarifon handles both directions: it either connects to the PBX, or opens a port and lets the PBX push calls to it – the second way is the only option for instances hosted by 3CX.

Can Yeastar P-Series be billed?

Yes, over the official PBX API. Tarifon also imports the list of extensions and trunks from it, so you do not retype names and numbers. You only create an API account on the PBX and enter the address, client and secret in the setup wizard.

How much does call accounting software cost?

Tarifon has a perpetual licence priced by installation size: €249 up to 24 extensions, €449 up to 72, €749 up to 200 and €1,190 up to 500 extensions, VAT excluded. No monthly fees. The first year of updates is included; further maintenance costs 20% of the licence price per year.

How do I separate private calls from business calls?

A call is marked private with one click and Tarifon builds a separate monthly statement from such calls – exactly what payroll needs for a deduction. In ordinary billing private calls are shown separately, so company costs are not inflated.

We rent out offices. Can we bill calls to our tenants?

Yes. For each department (tenant) you set how it is billed: a markup on the cost, or your own sales price list. Tarifon then shows the cost and the billed price side by side for every call and sends the tenant a monthly report with the billed price. Your free minutes and monthly fees reduce only your cost – the tenant is billed the full rate. It works the same way for hotels, coworking spaces and subsidiaries on a shared PBX.

Is it worth switching carriers?

Tarifon works it out from your own calls. In the Price list comparison tab you enter the price list, monthly fee and free minutes of another offer and the program re-rates your actual calls for the selected period – you see side by side what you paid and what you would have paid elsewhere, by destination and by trunk. Calls the offer does not cover are reported separately, so an incomplete price list does not look cheap. The program does not recommend, it only calculates – the decision is yours.

Where is the call data stored?

In a database on the machine where Tarifon runs – that is, inside your network. Phone numbers never go to any cloud and we have no access to them. You set how long records are kept, and individual calls or whole periods can be deleted.

What is PBX toll fraud and how do I defend against it?

An attacker gets hold of an extension or a SIP account and calls premium-rate numbers through your PBX, collecting a share of the revenue. The foundation of the defence is on the PBX itself – strong passwords, international calling disabled where it is not needed, calls restricted outside working hours. Tarifon adds supervision on top of that: it watches calls continuously and when unusual traffic appears, it sends an e-mail within minutes.

Will Tarifon warn me when someone starts calling expensive numbers through my PBX?

Yes. Six rules watch the cost per hour and per day, calls to risky destinations, night-time traffic, the number of calls from a single extension and runs of short calls. The alert arrives by e-mail together with a link to the calls in question. Protection is switched on from the first start. On Yeastar P-Series and 3CX V20 it can also block the suspicious extension automatically.

How does the licence work?

The licence is perpetual – the program never stops working. Annual maintenance (20% of the current licence price) brings new versions; without it you keep using versions released while it was active.

What happens if the PBX connection drops?

Tarifon keeps running, shows a warning and re-imports the calls once the connection is back – no gap appears in your history (FreePBX, Yeastar and 3CX XAPI).

Is it GDPR compliant?

Yes. Data stays inside your network; the program supports record retention, deletion on request and private-call marking. A data processing agreement template comes with the licence.

How many users can work with it?

Unlimited – the interface runs in a browser and extra users cost nothing.

We are a PBX reseller. Can we sell Tarifon?

Yes, for more information about partnership please contact us at tarifon@tarifon.eu.
